New PePWave CarFi Allows Roadside Access to High Speed Citywide Wi-Fi Networks
Hong Kong, November 28, 2007 - PePWave, innovator of Citywide Wi-Fi Broadband Internet products and solutions, today announced the addition of a new member to their Mobility solutions; CarFi. CarFi can be mounted in a vehicle to provide a fast and secure Wi-Fi hotspot in and around a stationary vehicle.

Private companies and individuals like realtors, contractors, salespeople, and other field service employees also need access to high speed data while in outdoor locations. Signal "Sweet Spot" Anywhere
Wi-Fi access in cars can be frustrating. People find that they have to drive around the block to locate the sweet spot for the best Wi-Fi Signal. The affordable CarFi makes it comfortable and easy to connect to the Internet via laptops or PDAs in or near a vehicle at any location they want. When mounted in a car, PePWave’s new CarFi continuously scans and connects to the nearest citywide Wi-Fi transmitter. Instead of trying to establish a direct connection from a laptop device to the Wi-Fi transmitter, the PePWave CarFi acts as a high power signal repeater that connects to a citywide Wi-Fi transmitter and creates a stable local AP for laptop connectivity. This allows low powered devices such as a PDA to maintain fast and steady connection, without scouting for a signal.
Long Range, Fast Roaming
With its metro-optimized radio and advanced roaming algorithm, the new PePWave CarFi is able to provide high speed access for laptops and PDA’s at much greater distances than previously possible. The fast roaming capabilities make it ready to enable roadside Wi-Fi connectivity anywhere in a city's Wi-Fi coverage area. Easy Set-up
CarFi comes in a ruggedized enclosure ready for mounting inside of a vehicle. A 12VDC vehicle power cord and external antenna make CarFi easy to install in almost any vehicle.
