Some sort of auction sites has become a staple of online games and the Lord of the Rings Online is no exception: there will be an Auction Hall! Located in several locales throughout Eriador, the Auction Halls will provide a priceless service to all adventurers: you will be able to place almost any item up for auction. Such facilities have become so important to reduce mindless spam from fellow adventurers and sheer ease of selling items to an ever growing customer base. Auction Hall Locations 拍卖所位置 There are four auction halls located throughout Eriador in the townships of Michel Delving, Thorin’s Halls, Bree-town and Rivendell. In addition, there is virtually no difference between any of the four; they’re all linked together. Despite the lore impossibility of this concept, the same items can be bid on whether you are in the capital of the Shire, Michel Delving, or the Last Homely House of Rivendell. Searching and Bidding on Items 查询和拍卖物品 以下是拍卖的界面  The above screenshot illustrates the main auction window with the ‘auctions’ tab open – the function that allows players to search for items. If you know the exact name of the item you are searching for, then you can simply enter the words in the name field and hit the search button. Alternatively, if you do not know the name and wish for a more broad search, you can select a category in the left, add in level ranges and even see those that you are only eligible for or that which is restricted to your kinship only. Lastly, the sort drop-down menu will help you in organizing the search results in a more organized manner.
Once you have searched for a particular item and wish to post a bid, simply click on the item to display the highest bid and buyout, if possible. If you wish to bid on an item, input the amount you want to spend beside the currency fields at the bottom of the window and select bid. Alternatively, if you want the item immediately, and are willing to pay the buyout price, do the same, but hit the buyout button instead.  This screenshot concerns the bids tab – a very important function for those who consistently bid on a variety of different items. Though the window is currently blank, when you have made bids they will appear here for you to track. There are methods to sort them as well, as the drop-down menu shows. Though there are three very important functions at the bottom of the window: concede, bid and buyout. The former allows you to restract a bid if you wish; the latter two permit you to either increase your bid or place a buyout if possible. A very unique function: no more re-searching for an item just because you’re out-bid!

If you wish to place an item up for auction, simply drag and drop the item from your inventory into the Auction Item box and a posting fee will be displayed; the monetary cost to put an item up for sale. The next of the options are self-explanatory: you can select the duration, restrict to your kinship only, place the starting bid and a buyout price. Even though the buyout field is optional, it is advisable to utilitize it; if a player wants an item bad enough, they’ll be willing to overpay: that means fortune for you! Once you are satisified with your choices, click on the Post Auction button on the bottom left. As a final note on the post tab, this active window will track all of your current auctions – very handy if you want to see if your asking price is too high. Accordingly, the Cancel Post in the bottom right allows you to retract your item before it’s too late; whether you simply change your mind or the leading bid isn’t high enough. Retrieving Items or Money 取得拍卖品或者拍卖价钱 Once your bidding or auction has been successful, you will be notified on the HUD (heads up display) that you have new mail. This facility will prove invaluable during the course of your career; many items are to had that will prove most useful. Be they those irksome inter-dependency materials in crafting, or that goblin-hewing axe that your dwarf guardian desires so much. Use it often, use it well, and don’t forget to post buyouts! |
