美国当地时间12月7日，美国唱片工业学院在洛杉矶公布了2006年度第49届Grammy的提名名单，在刚刚结束的Billboard Music Awards中独揽九项大奖的美国R&B老将Mary J. Blige一共得到了八项提名，成为本年度格莱美奖中获得提名奖项最多的艺人。除了最大热门Mary J. Blige之外，Red Hot Chili Peppers凭借今年五月发行的专辑Stadium Arcadium的出色表现也拿到了六项提名。而其他得到多个奖项提名的艺人还包括Dixie Chicks ，英国新人王James Blunt，美国年轻的流行摇滚男歌手John Mayer，全能音乐人Prince以及黑眼豆豆组合成员Will.i.am
