Features Removed:

• Removed Audio Editor as a stand-alone application [?] We have realized that Audio Editor was not the best audio editing solution available and removed it from Camtasia Studio 6. We have placed as much of its functionality as we can into Camtasia Studio’s timeline. This should create a better workflow for audio and video editing. For customers who need more audio editing than Camtasia Studio timeline or the Audio Editor provides, you can find greater functionality in Audacity.
• Removed the Live Output driver from Camtasia Recorder [?] Live Output in Camtasia Studio is not an effective way to stream content. Other products are designed for this and handle it much more elegantly.
• Removed FLV as a production option [?] The new MPEG-4 format replaces FLV and is the default option in most of the production presets.
  
  For those interested in the technical details...our MPEG-4 format is built on H.264 video and AAC audio, wrapped in a Flash file.
  
  This combination handles all types of content well, produces high-definition quality with smaller file sizes, and plays in any Flash-enabled browser. It also simplifies the production process for users since they don't have to learn about the strengths and weaknesses of various codecs before choosing a format.
  
  This change is also part of a broader industry trend to adopt standards-based formats. Adobe has announced a move away from FLV and joined Apple and Microsoft in embracing MPEG-4/H.264 as an outstanding vehicle for online video.

• Removed the 'Add Index' option from WMV production—all WMV productions now have an index
• Removed keyboard sounds from Recorder [?] The keyboard effects have been removed from Camtasia Studio in version 6. The sound effects were outdated and we felt that it was best to remove them.
• Removed ScreenPad from Recorder [?] ScreenPad is an option that was removed from Camtasia Studio with version 6. Screenpad is like callouts in the recorder. It’s a set of pre-packaged callouts which can be dragged onto the stage during recording. This functionality can be provided in a much richer way within our Editor and it’s much easier to do. Our hope is that you don’t have to try to focus on recording and adding callouts at the same time.
• Removed zoom, pan, and mute from Recorder [?] Zoom and Pan has been removed from the Camtasia Recorder in Camtasia Studio version 6. All of the zoom and pan key frames can still be added during editing. SmartFocus will automatically track all the motion on the screen while you’re moving the mouse. SmartFocus will then place the zoom and pan points on the timeline. Other zoom and pan points can be manually placed on the timeline during editing as well.
  
  We are also removing the Mute option from the Camtasia Recorder because we believe audio editing is best done with the Camtasia Editor.
• Removed ability to generate RealMedia table of contents [?] Camtasia Studio versions 5 and lower will produce a RealMedia file with a table of contents. Camtasia Studio 6 will still produce a RealMedia file, but the video will not have a table of contents in it. Videos containing a table of contents can still be created in Camtasia Studio 6 (and previous versions) using the Flash outputs.
