1. On this Veterans’ Day, President Bush is praising US troops as "our nation's finest citizens". Speaking at Arlington National Cemetery, Bush thanked US servicemen and women, and urged other Americans to do the same. Before his remarks, the president laid a wreath at the tomb of the unknowns.
2. While many National Guard members are returning from duty just in time for Veterans’ Day, some combat brigades could be sent back for a second tour. Sending troops back to Iraq would depart from a Pentagon decision not to deploy reserves for more than 2 years.
3. The United States has vetoed a UN Security Council resolution, condemning the recent Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip. US Ambassador John Boton says the Arab-backed draft resolution was biased against Israel and politically motivated.
4. Western Wisconsin residents are shoveling out after a snowstorm hit the region. Fast falling flurries dumped six inches of snow on the area. Police say the storm made roads extra slippery but there were no serious problems.
