The aim of the project is to develop an open source iSCSI target with professional features, that works well in enterprise environment under real workload, and is scalable and versatile enough to meet the challenge of future storage needs and developements.

The project was started by forking the Ardis target implementation, with respect to the GPL. While the Ardis target implementation was a very good one, it lacked several key needs, including SMP support, Linux 2.6 kernel support, 64bit architecture support, dynamic configuration, iSNS support and more. • The latest stable version of IET is available at sourceforge site.

• The development version of IET is available at BerliOS subversion repository.

The software requires a host running the Linux operating system with a kernel version of 2.6.14 or later.

该软件要求运行在2.6.14以上的核心上。（显然，这是为什么RHEL4里没有包含该软件的原因！我以前的blog里提到RHEL5.1开始提供了iSCSI Target端的rpm，但是不知道是否基于该软件。）
