我对辩论一直有些偏见
觉得辩论是个鬼打墙的游戏
在这个游戏里
个人的魅力已经超越了道理
不论正方反方，什么观点
只有气势汹汹又逻辑缜密
才有可能征服观众征服评审，从而征服对手
所以
辩论从来都不是Speak the truth
而是Show the attitude
就像我们的女主角Samantha Booke最终如愿成为的律师一样
呵呵，言归正传
我相信斗士都是生于忧患，由困境催生的
我欣赏这个故事里的斗士们用辩论作为向世界宣称自己存在的方式
在一个以民主自由立国的国家，这是多么聪明的选择
那是1935年，马丁·路德金大叔向世人分享他有个梦的28年前
黑人已经自由，但是和白人还不是那么和谐地生活在一起
凌迟（lynch）是他们中的一部分的人的死亡方式和另一部分的噩梦
最终的辩题是，公民的不服从比正义战争更有力
小詹姆斯的发言仿如来自灵魂深处，相当精彩，也给整个电影做了总结

Was he a killer?
还是因为他是个黑人？
Or just a negro?
他是个佃户吗？
Was he a sharecropper?
一个牧师？
A preacher?
他的孩子在等他吗？
Where his children waiting up for him?
为什么人们只在那里站着看
And who will wait just lay there.
不采取任何行动
And do nothing.
不管他做了什么
No matter what he did,
那些暴徒才叫罪犯
the mop was the criminal.
但是法律什么作用都没有
But the law did nothing,
只是让我们一直在想：为什么？
Just left us wondering: Why?
对方辩手说：任何凌驾于法律之上的行为都不道德
My opponent says:" Nothing that is break the rule of law can be moral."
但是在南方没有法律
But there is no rule in the law in Gambro South.
当黑人没有地方居住
Now we negroes...are denied housing,
被从学校和医院撵出来
turn away from schools,hospitals,
还有被凌迟处死的时候
都没有法律
and not we are rynched.
圣.奥古斯丁说过：
St. Augustine said:
“不公正的法律根本不能称之为法律”
"An unjust law is no law at all."
也就是说我有权利，甚至是责任来反抗
Which means I have a right, even a duty to resist.
是用暴力？还是用公民的不服从？
With violence or civil disobedience...
你们应该感谢上帝我选择了后者
You should pray I choose the later.
