I have been in a very precarious condition lately; so many unresolved issues, vague dreams, long-distance relationship, self-abasement, Anaphylactic Rhinitis, even weeping have been there. During the daytime, I'm the President-elect Obama; while at night, I'm the ill-fated presidential candidate McCain. Unfortunately, my girl was kind of in the same state of mind. Yet fortunately, she taught me the single easist way to get over with these annoying things, spending.

How is it possible to spend facing the global economic downturn? Our great country is making it possible. $586 is not only a figure, but a voice telling us that the perspicacious way to rescue us from the crisis is to challenge it with what we have already, and turning around or warding it off will be our last option both.

So uh... she, my girl, bought a 800 kuai pair of boots, which makes me be willing to buy a 5.5 kuai crustard tart~~ fair enough~

I retrospect, I was always focused. But currently, I am a little bit beaten down instead.

I used to be very fortunate. I dreamed of what I craved, and I got exactly what I wanted without even trying. Yeah, I did not try. It is pretty much like winning the lottery. Is it going to keep happening like this? I dare not risk or chance it along the way after my tomorrow's departure from home.

What am I gonna be ten years from now? It sounds boring but prospectively of extraordinary fun.   So, on Aug., 12th, 2018, I am gonna read this article again, and most probably, I am gonna renew it!!

英语词汇中有很多外来词汇，如taikonaut、cheongsam等来自于中国，origami crane、judo等来自于日本。但绝大多数英语词汇都由拉丁、希腊词汇发展而来；而其中很多拉丁词汇直接被用作了英语词汇。这些词汇就像中国的成语一样，虽然可以用白话或其它修辞方式表达同样的意思，但可以点缀文章。如果使用恰当，可以使文章流光溢彩。当然，这些词汇的使用还需建立在扎实的英语功底基础上，否则就有故弄玄虚之嫌。

在介绍以前，有个常识需要说明一下。英语中很多外来拉丁形容词一般也可以同时作副词用，不需要作任何词形变化。以下就介绍一些常用的拉丁词汇：

ad hoc 特别的；专门的；临时准备的

在拉丁语中，它的字面意思为“for this”（为此），在英语中用来修饰某事物的针对性和临时性。由它组成的常见短语有ad hoc investigating committee（特别调查委员会），ad hoc meeting（特别会议）等。

例：Since the weather is kind of capricious these days, the time for the sports meeting this week is subject to change on an ac hoc basis.

ad infinitum 无止境地；没完没了地

此词中的fin是意为“边界”的词根，所以在英语中就有了finite这个词汇，表示有边界的，即有限的。它的反义词infinite（无限的）更常见一点。ad infinitum在英语中一般只用作副词。

PS，或者叫个人陈述（Personal Statement），是申请欧美国家大学的必备材料之一，其重要性不亚于许多可量化的标准，如TOEFL、IELTS、GRE等考试成绩和国内在校成绩（GPA、会考成绩单等）。要写好一篇PS，首先需要清楚了解它的概念。其实PS已经不简单地是personal statement的缩写，现在更多的欧美学校愿意把它叫做Statement of Purpose（意图陈述），或者更具体地叫做Statement of Intent & Objectives，即意向及目标陈述，其中意向部分又可以分为个人优势陈述和选择该校和该专业的原因。

在清楚了解PS的概念后，就需要注意PS的总体写作原则。PS的写作应该思路清晰，用简洁的文笔提供有用的信息。具体的信息和实例能够使文章与众不同，并且吸引人。总的来说，笼统且有充满陈词滥调的自我夸耀只能让录取工作人员们失望万分。在写作之前，列提纲是十分重要的，里面需要包括你想要表达的内容以及内容的结构。另外，提纲应该围绕一个主题来写，切忌引用无关宏旨的例证。

PS的写作格式也是一个值得注意的问题，它体现了你的专业素质和学术修养。没有谁规定PS的字数是多少，但对于一个申请人数比较多的学校，太长的PS也不会收到青睐，即使它很出彩。在页边距正常、行距为单倍、字号为10-12的情况下，一到两页的长度是比较合

To realize one’s full potential is the provenance of one’s splendid career. This is what I believe, and this is why I have been the lucky for I have chosen English as my major in college, which made me a top student in the English Department of Changchun Institute of Technology, China. I actually had my birthday party with my girl and some close friends a couple of days ago, not because I prematurely hit the time but I did mark a new epoch of mine according to the lunar calendar that day. Incidentally I have to extend my gratitude to all those who were my company on my day, and gave me the sweetest pleasure without any extravaganza. I never had a chance to say this, but when I do it here I mean it!

I, therefore, didn't realize that today is my birthday till a friend of mine, who used to be my confidant actually, sent me a message online. I thanked but seriously I couldn't care less about it, 'cos I already had it. I swore that I would swallow my birthday for I've got so many plans to carry out and no time for that, unless something excites me. And something did. Shortly before dinner when I turned on the television, I couldn't help gaping at the 17 gold medals which China had won in the Beijing Olympiad, which ensured our position as a bellwether.
