The presumptive democratic nominee says he has decided who will be his running mate but for now he isn’t telling anyone. Barack plans to appear with his choice in Illinois on Saturday.
II. Authorities say a threatening letter containing some sort of powder that was sent to John McCain’s campaign office near Denver was not hazardous. Colorado officials say an inmate is responsible for sending the letter. He may face federal felony charges.
III. The death toll associated with tropical storm Fay continues to climb. Two people have drowned in Florida because of the storm and the number of deaths in Caribbean is now 23. Some streets and homes in Florida are now full of water after 4 days of heavy rains. President Bush has issued a federal disaster declaration.
IV. Spain civil aviation chief says the airliner that crashed in Madrid on Wednesday must have had more than one breakdown. The aviation chief says he doesn’t believe that engine failure alone could bring down the airliner. He says modern planes are built to fly on just one engine in case one does fail. 153 people were killed in the crash. Only 19 survived.

Ohio’s first black Congresswoman has died. Stephanie Tubbs Jones is driving in her district Tuesday night when she suffered a brain hemorrhage, leaving her with limited brain function. She died late Wednesday at a hospital. She was 58.
Officials in Spain say 153 people were killed when a plane headed for the Canary Islands crashed during takeoff at the Madrid airport. 19 people did survive, but some of them are in critical condition. Investigators believe it was an accident.
San Diego officials say a man visiting the area was killed when an oceanside bluff collapsed. Police say the victim not identified suffered severe head trauma, and he was struck by large rocks falling from beneath a gulf course.
The mother of a missing Florida girl is expected to be released from jail today. Officials say a bondsman put up Casey Anthony’s 500,000-dollar bail late Wednesday. Anthony’s accused of waiting more than a month before telling police about her young daughter’s disappearance. Caylee Anthony has not been seen since June.
