Xu LiJun, a Stylist once said, she loved the atmosphere of extended family coming with Chinese men of letter: Over here in tea room, father was chatting with his friends while enjoying a cup of green tea; mother was busying with the needlecraft works in the living room, yet from time to time casting her eyes over her grandson playing around with loving and content looks; elder brother and uncle were playing chess in the study room nearby, whose fierce fighting were interrupted by the sister preparing the supper: time for supper…It seems that what she described is coming back to life before our eyes, revived by herself in her demonstration house. No where but here, either music, chess, calligraphy and Chinese traditional painting or the “four gentlemen” including plum, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum are composing parts of the life. Yet important matter is not only having elegance of barely noticed fragrance spreading along with wind under late dusk moon and tranquility of the great river eastforward flowing with its waves be gone, seen as the essences of Chinese scholars’ spirits.

【Tea Room】

Branch shadows are sparse,

Painting surface of clear water;

Fragrance is weak and fitful,

Spreading with dusky moonlight

Teahouse is left after the entry, a tranquil and enchanting place remind people of “shadow-painted water and fragrant moonlight”. The wall on the left side hangs some light water-ink paintings, moreover, it can be seen a pendant lamp decorated with natural scenery paintings conveying spirits as simple as possible on it as well as vivid poems. Everything is covered in poetic romance when lights are turned on. Xu lijun said that she had intended to hang ink-plum here to create a surrounding overflowed with feelings of a real feeling of “fitful fragrance”, this red-ink-plum painting wasn’t exactly what she wanted, but unexpectedly it was loved by many people, who held that red-ink-plum jumped out to attract vision in this light and refined space.

Xu lijun said: Do you see bamboo curtain in the teahouse? As soon as put down it, the tea house is a totally independent space, an ideal place for friends intimate chatting and tea drinking. Once the curtain is pull up, it is connected to the open-style kitchen. So convenient for friends to have some tea-drinking. Originally, there was a wall in the middle, since dark inside, I push it down for this kind of bamboo curtain free to stretch. Which, by an old Chinese saying, kill two birds with one stone, can not only ensure lighting but also protect the privacy.
