<div class="blogtext" >最近发现上智的很多哥们姐们突然都对拉丁文感上兴趣，突然多了这么多同道中人，真是高兴。有时间大家可以一起交流交流！我也就在这顺便谈谈拉丁文的学习和教材。

<p>前边先废两句话：先小议一下明朝的拉丁文学习，当时对于教友而言就是如何诵念背诵教会的基本经文。所以当时而言学习经文就是学习拉丁文。当时的拉丁经文的学习背诵方式主要是以汉字注音的方式来进行。也因为当时翻译拉丁经文因无法从汉语找出相对应的意思，所以早期的拉丁文经文的术语都是用汉字注音，比如BAPTISMUM 圣洗，翻译为拔弟斯魔 COMMUNION 领圣体，翻译为共蒙仰拔弟斯摩。感觉注音是不是有点不准？问题出在明朝的官话也就是当时的国语是以南京话为基础的。所以其发言使和的南京（江淮）方言相同的。如果以南京音去读，还是能读出哪个拉丁文劲的。不过要想到两点，一、现代南京话和明朝南京话的音是有出入的。二、注音法本身就是不科学，不严谨的。这也是国人学习外国语言一种权宜之计。就如伊斯兰教也是用注音法来念阿拉伯文一样，这等注音之法都是上不得台面的。好了言归正转，对于拉丁文的学习，正是工欲善其事，必先利其器。下面就简单介绍一下拉丁文的教材和词典。</p>
<p>清朝：<br>

清光绪年间贝国霖神父曾经编撰出一本辣丁（拉丁）汉文辞典！曾经在朋友家有幸见过一次。用的文字古不古，洋不洋，感觉很别扭。此辞典1987年陕西神哲学院翻印过一次，现已绝版。这可能是我见过目前最早的一本拉丁文辞典实物。有兴趣的可以找来看看。</p>
<p>民国：<br>
早期拉丁文教材多由山东<font color="#ff0000">兖州保禄印书馆</font>出版，以下是我目前所见到的拉丁文教材</p>
<p>1、拉丁初学文法（40年1版1印、拉丁文汉语对照）作者：A.Schildknecht.S.M.B 山东兖州天主堂 保禄印书馆 <br>
2、拉丁文词学（45年版、拉丁文汉语对照）山东兖州天主堂 保禄印书馆 <br>
3、拉丁文句学 （民国32年版、拉丁文汉文对照）&nbsp;&nbsp; 山东兖州天主堂 保禄印书馆<br>
4、拉丁文词学 二、有位变法之词（民国32年版、拉丁文汉文对照） 北京协和印书局 山东兖州保禄印书馆<br>
5、拉丁辞林 （民国13年版、拉丁文汉文对照） 山东兖州郡天主教堂印书局&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>
6、拉丁词典（44年1版1印、拉丁文汉语对照）A.Schildknecht.S.M.B 保禄印书馆&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>优点：此系列拉丁文教材词典已接近于现代语言教学模式，颇有许国璋英语的范儿。只是不见拉丁语音教学，想是那拉丁语音太简单，所以没有收录。本来心中好奇想看看那个年头的语音教学是不是用汉字注音，可惜没能如愿。<br>
缺点：系统性不强，语法点过于零散。感觉好象一本书拆成好多本书卖钱。年头太久，书已经发黄变质，上次借一位仁兄拿去复印，结果好几本书书脊破裂，细看之下发现纸都已经糟了，心疼不已！</p>
<p>目前很多院校所用拉丁文之中文教材及英文教材<br>
中文教材：目前世面上比较多的是各种医药拉丁文和植物拉丁文，因及内容其局限性，所以不细表。<br>
１、首推肖原所著《拉丁文基础》１９８３年商务印书馆出版　此书对于我天主教会修院拉丁文教学具有重要意义。由于当时国内很缺乏系统的拉丁文的教材，更多为医学拉丁文教材或者植物学拉丁文教材。所以当时很多天主教修院采用《拉丁文基础》作为其教材。很多神父、主教的拉丁文功底或者说那点三角猫功夫都是由此书而来。<br>
优点：解放后第一本系统拉丁语教材。可作为古典拉丁语的入门教材。<br>
缺点：这书很多翻译多为直译，多为&ldquo;我们祖国的许多河又长又宽&rdquo;、&ldquo;你的朋友们教过我们的学生们&rdquo;建议脑子不好的人诸如我，不要用此书，以免拉丁文没学成，连中文说都不会话了。<br>

<p>2、拉丁文汉文辞典<br>
这个辞典是吴金瑞神父耗时十五年编纂完成，称的上是十五年磨一剑了！<br>
此辞典就我所见分为正版（红皮）和国内翻版（土黄色皮其实就是盗版）两种<br>
一、原版是为台湾出版，其封面为红色，内容印刷精美。折合人民币加邮费价格大约在５００元左右。<br>
二、中国天主教教务委员会曾在九十年代为了修院的拉丁语教学，翻印过一批此辞典。其封面为土黄色。其内纸张比较粗糙，说是擦屁股纸的也不为过。<br>
国内的翻印本原本买过两本。第一本一哥们要出国进修神学，于是送了本给他作纪念。第二册上次狐狸说她朋友学法律要用此辞典。遂答应替她购买，翌日去主教团，才知道剩余的拉丁文词典全被北大一学生买走，心中暗骂：Ｘ的，连盗版都绝版，什么世道！不过，从小对一诺千金这成语特有感情。于是，忍痛割让给了狐狸。<br>
可是话又说回来了，现在咱们都加入世贸了。国家也天天哭着喊着打击盗版，保护知识产权。我们是天主教徒，但是首先的身份是中国人，我们是不是也应该积极响应一下政府的号召。支持一下正版货。所以有需要此正版辞典的兄弟姐妹跟我联系，凑一起大家一起买台湾的正版辞典。也算是为台湾人民的经济复苏进一点微薄之力。也体现了手足情，同胞谊吗！<br>
也算对得起吴金瑞神父对此辞典十五年的心血劳苦。</p>
<p>3、《拉丁语汉语词典》商务印书馆1988年出版 谢大任主编 印数仅有2000册，早已绝版。内容一般。</p>
<p>4、《拉汉词典》贵州人民出版社 1986年出版&nbsp;&nbsp; 彭泰尧主编 未曾一见，据反应内容问题不少。<br>
5、谢大任也出版过《拉丁汉语小词典》可做参考！入门词典，内容一般。</p>
<p>英文教材及词典</p>
<p>1、wheelock&rsquo;s latin 经典的英文古典拉丁语教材。亚马逊书店有售　大约人民币３００元左右。<br>
优点：比较系统的古典拉丁文教材，很多中外院校都采用其古典拉丁文的入门教材<br>
缺点：不说大家都知道，这书是英文版的。</p>
<p>2、教会拉丁教材<br>
美国天主教大学出版社出版　教会拉丁文的入门教材！<br>
优点：此书是专门的教会拉丁文教材。第一课是语音，其课后练习居然是让念〈〈PATER NOSTER〉〉是为一乐！其语法也多拿教会术语以及圣经段落做范例。其教材课后的〈〈Ｆurther readings〉〉第一篇文章就是拉丁文弥撒中所用经文及其流程。其后是一段〈〈路加福音〉〉及天主教的著名经文及拉丁圣父的一些神学论文的片段。真是一本优秀的教会拉丁文教材。<br>
缺点：此书在欧洲是很著名的拉丁文教材，在国内还是养在深闺人未识。</p>
<p>3、COLLINS的拉丁文词典 <br>
优点：小巧便于携带，包含拉英和英拉两种。号称是COLLINS的the best-selling latin mini dictionary 价格也不贵&mdash;&mdash;6.95美元 北京很多外文书店都卖过，只是最近难觅芳踪。<br>
缺点：单词量少，对NB人士显的业余了一些</p>
<p>英文版本的拉丁文词典还有很多，比如公鸡版、牛津版等等。牛津版和COLLINS版差不多，都是袖珍版，单词量也差不多，不过价格却贵了不少，所以我个人推荐买COLLINS版。</p>

            Latin primers </span>实在太多，而且个性绝对突出（就像 《红楼梦》人物，<span>every Latin primer has its distinct personality--unlike the mass produced consumer goods, which is FUNGIBLE).<br>
            <br>
            The initiation of Latin </span>有三难：<span><br>
            a. Grammar (accidence)<br>
            b. Syntax<br>
            c. Vocabulary<br>
            <br>
            </span>这三难是明的，摊在桌面儿上的。暗的是 精神层面上的东西<span>--</span>简称为<span> Roman Heart and Mind</span>：<span><br>
            <br>
            Roman WAY OF THINKING/MENTALITY (values, morality, preferences, tastes, simplicity, </span>对奴隶制的复杂情感等等<span>)<br>
            <br>
            Roman Heart/Mind </span>多数只能意会，很难言传，<span> or in other words, the best way to instill that is CASE studies (by typical/representative stories)</span>。<span><br>
            <br>
            Wheelock </span>的书走的是<span>&ldquo;</span>专项整治<span>&rdquo;</span>路线<span>--</span>专门整治<span> Grammar (accidence), </span>在这方面优点突出，把<span> Wheelock </span>的书当成<span> a reference Latin grammar </span>是一点都不过分地， 也是<span>one correct way to use it.<br>
            <br>
            </span>当然，有了这个<span>&ldquo;</span>好<span>&rdquo;</span>，其他的就难免打折扣。<span> Wheelock </span>对<span> vocabulary </span>抱 实用主义的原则，全书共采用<span>1</span>，<span>500</span>个词汇，数量上不能算少，<span>passive vocabulary </span>为主，在使用的质量上（即让<span>reader</span>对<span> Latin vocabulary </span>本质特征的领悟）大有商榷余地。<span><br>

            </span>最大的<span>&ldquo;</span>失<span>&rdquo;</span>在什么地方呢？<span> Wheelock </span>正文部分以毫不关联的 句子为主，因此，<span>reader </span>失去对掌握<span>connected passages </span>所必需的全局概念<span>--</span>不能不说，这一条至少会让很多自学者迅速<span>lose interest in Latin--what's the point drills after drills, </span>根本让人看不到<span> accidence/syntax </span>的底嘛。伴随这种逆反心理，很容易在潜意识里产生<span> on god, the Romans are such a freaking wierd people -- </span>这种恶感一旦产生后果是：一朝被蛇咬，十年怕草绳。<span>Can anything ever be achieved out of FEAR?<br>

            </span>另一个极端是<span> Walter Ripan's A Rapid Latin Course--</span>很难想象该书原是为英国社会上的<span>Latin</span>补习班、速成班所使用。这部书的作者显然对古罗马人极具好感，在序言里就<span>assert, </span>我们盎格鲁人从来没有 沉稳内敛 的概念 （<span>gravitas</span>）<span>, which is the hallmark of the personality of the Roman people...</span>全书的基调就已经定下了。 走的路线是<span> natural language </span>和感情路线。全书以章回体中篇小说的形式展开，极有独创性，故事主要人物都是十三四岁的少男少女，生活在公元<span>1~2</span>世纪的罗马，故事情节都发生在<span>4~5</span>个月内，他们经历的暑假和各种人和事之后，成熟起来。在原作者的精心安排下，罗马的一切都极富人情味，都是那么的美好（对奴隶制的美言超过达赖喇嘛对西藏农奴制的美化）， 神圣得不容玷污<span>……</span>除去这些明显的但从一个角度可以理解的美化<span>(albeit with a definite purpose, to instill the likability of the Roman people to its readers), the lasting impression one has for its creator is his creativity. </span>至于<span> Ripman</span>的<span>Latin style, </span>就不评述了。<span><br>
            <br>
            Tetlow </span>和<span> Preble </span>都极重视<span> vocabulary, Tetlow </span>尤其重视<span> Latin phrases, </span>但<span>Tetlow</span>的书一定得配合<span>1888</span>年版的<span> Allen and Greenough's Latin Grammar, </span>否则没法用。<span>Preble </span>自己也<span>revise </span>过<span> Andrews and Stoddard's Latin Grammar, </span>能把枯燥的<span>grammar</span>写成 给<span>Latin </span>的情书，<span>Preble </span>就算不是空前绝后，也是<span> noble feat. </span>上述均可在<span> books.google.com </span>下载。<span><br>

            The Climax Latin series </span>又是另一幅心肠<span>--</span>充分巧妙化解<span>Latin grammar </span>对初学者尤其是自学者所带来的冲击。和<span> Ripman </span>等其他<span>educators </span>一样，他们都充分认识到：<span>Latin is fundamentally different than English. </span>但解决方案并不一致。<span>Magoffin/Berry </span>团队走的是<span> connected passages </span>道路（充分吸收<span> classic Greek </span>教学上的得失成败后的经验教训）， 在使用<span>vocabulary</span>上要<span>careful </span>得多，因此能让人学到比较多的<span> active vocabulary, </span>而不是死鱼烂肉，<span>just for recognition purposes. </span>语法解说比较适中，先阅读后语法讲解而且往往某些语法在前几课就开始出现，有了一定积累和感性认识才说明原理，此外后几课还会<span>&ldquo;</span>不经意<span>&rdquo;</span>地重复<span>several times, </span>不像<span> Wheelock </span>讲语法，绝对是没有前戏后戏的，一篇课文从头到尾都是<span> grammar, </span>篇与篇之间也没有什么必然联系。不怕你大头，就怕头不大。<span><br>

        <title><![CDATA[拉丁语到底有多远--献给求知（学）者、探索者以及一切(希望)精神独立的人 #1]]></title>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt"><span style="font-size: 12pt; "><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;   </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;&nbsp;  </span></span><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">从前有人说过，时间老人是人世间一切不公正的裁判员中最公正的一位，事实上恐怕也只能是如此。古往今来，沽名钓誉者数不胜数，而本应流芳百世反失名姓者亦不在少数。人的命运尚且如此，书的命运就更可想而知了。中国人好说&ldquo;盛世修典&rdquo;一类的话，但没有乱世又哪里来什么盛世？身逢乱世，自顾不暇，书籍典册大量失散则成为常态。即便是在盛世，由于种种原因，某些书籍后来不了了之也是常有的事。只是，在一般人看来，进入了<span>20</span>世纪，书籍和资料保存条件大为改观，人们的保护意识也大为增强，<span>20</span>世纪新出版的书大概不会惨遭相同命运了吧（个别禁毁书目除外）？事与愿违，同样的事每天都在上演，一个<span> Walter Ripman </span>永远不会像那只华南虎那样牵动众人的神经，然而，<span>Walter Ripman </span>著作几近不传所折射出的人世代谢普遍规律同样令人唏嘘。<span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-indent: 24pt; mso-char-indent-count: 2.0"><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">自<span>Internet</span>兴起后，如果某些资料已经被数字化了，那么查询该资料变得史无前例地容易。数字化的一项伟大成就就是<span>JSTOR </span>的出现。<span>JSTOR </span>是<span>Journal Storage</span>的缩写，汇集<span>19</span>世纪以来各种专业期刊杂志并数字化，极大地便利了专业期刊杂志利用和复核。本贴的写作，离开<span>JSTOR</span>是不可能任务。<span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-indent: 24pt; mso-char-indent-count: 2.0"><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">谷歌<span> Walter Ripman </span>这个人名，有用的信息实在不多，<span>ODNB </span>也没有收录，唯<span>WorldCat </span>上说<span>Ripman </span>生于<span>1869</span>年，除此之外 可以说<span>Curculio </span>对其生平一无所知。对<span>Walter Ripman </span>的更多了解仅限于他的几部和拉丁语入门有关的书。 这些书似乎北大、国图也未见收录。当然中国太大，北大、国图没有，旁的地方或许还会有。但毫无疑问，<span>Walter Ripman </span>这个人和他的书在中国的影响不可能太大。利用<span>JSTOR, </span>可知他的<span>A Handbook of the Latin Language</span>有两篇简短书评：<span></span></span></p>

Mustard </span>是何许人，无从查考， 但<span>Paul Shorey </span>（<span>1857-1934</span>）却是当年芝大著作等身的明星教授，同时也是<span> Classical Philology </span>的主编。 据信此人有将荷马史诗《伊利亚特》全部<span>12</span>，<span>000</span>余行倒背如流的功夫。（<span>cf. WIKI: Paul Shorey). </span>他的<span>Horace </span>诗注至今仍在出版。<span> Paul Shorey </span>写这篇简短述评时（<span>in or before Jan 1931) </span>已有<span>73/4</span>岁的高龄，并以<span>&ldquo;</span>不得不评价<span>&rdquo;</span>作为论述出发点时，他的高度评价分量自然不同凡响。值得注意的是：<span>Paul Shorey </span>和<span> Walter Ripman </span>没有任何利益关系，甚至彼此素不相识，因此这份评价可以说是<span>as objective as humanly possible.</span>这两份独立&ldquo;鉴定&rdquo;本身又有什么特点呢？粗略比较一下，可以看出，<span>Paul Shorey </span>重在整体把握，因而比较紧凑，而<span>W.P. Mustard </span>卷入了某些具体细节，显得相对比较松散。<span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-indent: 24pt; mso-char-indent-count: 2.0"><span style="font-size: 12pt; "><font color="#ff0000">然而， 更能显示<span>Walter Ripman </span>在拉丁语启蒙教育方面独到而富有智慧和启迪作用的还不是上述<span> A Handbook of the Latin Language</span>， 而是<span>A Rapid Course in Latin</span>。</font>稍有拉丁语最基本常识的人都知道，能查拉丁语字典就可以肯定算是<span>&ldquo;</span>入过门<span>&rdquo;</span>了，尚未入门的根本无法使用拉丁语字典， 就像绝大多数小学<span>1-3</span>年级的学生根本没有使用普及本《康熙字典》的可能性，后者的门槛太高太高， 完全和《新华字典》没有什么可比性。只是<span> A Rapid Course in Latin </span>的流传似乎更少，连一篇<span>Journal review </span>都没有，退而求其次，不得已摆出上述两篇关于<span> A Handbook of the Latin Language </span>的述评， 实非初衷。<span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-indent: 24pt; mso-char-indent-count: 2.0"><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">就<span>1800</span>年已降用英语撰写出版的总数不少于三、四百种各类拉丁语 蒙学书来看（蒙学书<span> = high school Latin textbooks, Latin primers for the general public, first year college-level Latin textbooks)</span>，<span> Ripman </span>的<span>A Rapid Course in Latin</span>可谓是真正的大智慧，<span> in a class by itself.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span></span>然而命运多舛，<span>A Rapid Course in Latin </span>至今鲜为人知，处境尴尬。原因似乎有这么几条：<span></span></span></p>

WorldCat </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">里收录了<span> A Rapid Course in Latin (RCL) </span>一书的大型公立藏书机构全球只有<span>13</span>家，且统共只有两个版次纪录在案。虽说<span>WorldCat</span>有时难免仍然挂一漏万，但通常已经非常接近西方主要国家和南非以及亚洲香港、新加坡外加日本国公立藏书机构馆藏的真实情形，数量如此稀少， 够得上<span>&ldquo;</span>稀世<span>&rdquo;</span>的标准了吧。<span>(Clinton </span>的<span>My Life </span>一书 于<span> 2004</span>年<span> 6</span>月<span>22</span>日正式出版， 迄今<span>WorldCat </span>已经收录了<span>95</span>个各语种版次，已被全球近万家藏书机构收藏了好几万本个不同版本）<span></span></span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt"><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">3. </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">短小精悍，简明实用，以<span>&ldquo;</span>读<span>&rdquo;</span>为主，<span>&ldquo;</span>语法<span>&rdquo;</span>为辅，便于自学 （尤其是有一定生活体验因而<span>&ldquo;</span>情商<span>&rdquo;</span>较高的成年人自学），这和绝大多数把拉丁语语法上死的条条框框作为拉丁蒙学第一要义的旨趣大相径庭，后者以<span> Wheelock's Latin (Wheelock's Latin) </span>为目前仍然再版的英语拉文蒙学书总代表，他们的势力是很强大的，还有诸如<span> Latin: An Intensive Course</span>，<span>Benjamin L. D'Ooge </span>：<span>Latin For Beginners</span>，<span> Collar and Daniell</span>：<span>Beginner's Latin Book</span>。 共同的优点是：便于<span>&ldquo;</span>考核<span>&rdquo;</span>，便于将各种学生的自信心、主观能动性全部彻底地消磨溶解， 直到有一天（不会太遥远的）几乎所有学生都跪地求饶，口中念念有词：再也不敢奢望一辈子能搞懂拉丁语了，就是被活活被打死也不敢翻这个案了。台上的老师也是老泪纵横，能说出这般话，孩子们，你们真地是大有长进了！俺的心血没白化，不枉教你们一趟！这种把抽象的纯拉丁语法当成拉拉丁语本身挂羊头卖狗肉到底错在哪儿，为什么这么有市场？把拉丁语法当成拉丁语本身犹如将植物学和园艺学或农学混为一谈。尤其是园艺学， 是一门实践性很强的学科，不是端坐在那里纸上谈<span>&ldquo;</span>兵&rdquo;（<span>grammar)</span>就成的。闻香（美丽的花朵）和闻臭（有机肥料）的几率同在，而且闻臭不能<span>guarantee</span>闻香的最终结果。如果 以最终能多快好省地培育出&ldquo;香花&rdquo;<span>(ability to read and write fluently in Latin)</span>这个结果来看，又何必在意这个园丁是否懂得这些花草在植物学上的分类归属，后者只不过是个人为的<span>classification/explanation. </span>把这些 植物学上的分类归属 搞得一清二楚、滚瓜烂熟的难道实践动手能力一定就强了吗？既是植物学家又是园艺学家固然可嘉，<span>but most people can only or would noly want to concentrate on one and only one area. </span>数百年的西方教学实践的本身也表明，先制造植物学家再通过不断改造努力成为园艺学家曲线拉丁语学习法事半功倍，投入产出极不成比例。然而由于惰性或者其他什么原因，<span>70-80%</span>的蒙学课本依然脱不了这套思路<span>/</span>教学理念。用中国话来说就是摆脱不了<span>&ldquo;</span>极左思潮<span>&rdquo;</span>的影响。不可否认，植物学家的社会地位也许较高，而 园艺学家 在日常用语中很可能和<span>&ldquo;</span>那个会养花的<span>&rdquo;</span>混为一谈。可是一个<span>&ldquo;</span>古植物<span>&rdquo;</span>研究家的成果再为国争光也改变不了一个基本事实：对于美化生活环境，增加生活情趣（美）来说，一个二流园丁的贡献要贴近大众得多。如果只为&ldquo;养好花草&rdquo;这一单纯目的，何必非先苦心经营<span>&ldquo;</span>植物学<span>&rdquo;</span>？<span></span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt"><span style="font-size: 12pt; "><strong>4.</strong></span><span style="font-size: 12pt; "><strong>这大概是一些深层次的原因，<span>Ripman </span>没有拘泥于繁琐语法和理论教条</strong>，相反他才是一个超一流的园丁，一笔一划，切切实实从第一课起就教授如何养一些简单易活的花草，如何选种、发芽、移盆、拔草（含杂草鉴别），每种花草有何不同之处。简单易活的花草很快种出来之后，自然信心大增，可以逐渐过渡到复杂多病的品种，循序渐进，渐入佳境。在<span>teach how to read Latin on a fast track </span>上，<span>Ripman </span>采用了特殊的材料：全部语言材料都是他自己编写组织的。这在其他<span>School Latin textbooks </span>当然也不鲜见，但<span>Ripman </span>要比他们体大思精得多。其他</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">School Latin textbooks </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">编者自拟的<span>school Latin 99%</span>属于<span>&ldquo;</span>四平八稳<span>&rdquo;</span>，语法上<span>&ldquo;</span>绝对正确<span>&rdquo;</span>的那种，机械呆板，看不出有任何<span>&ldquo;</span>语言特色&rdquo;，平铺直叙缺乏变起伏变化，除了宣扬<span>&ldquo;</span>高大全<span>&rdquo;</span>的古代英雄事迹外，再也看不出有什么鲜明的人物个性，总之和平常心、平常人距离遥远。在不就是在保证&ldquo;舆论导向&rdquo;的前提下，弄几个一眼就可以被识破的&ldquo;希腊奸&rdquo;、&ldquo;罗马奸&rdquo;的弱智型反面典型，让中学生&ldquo;划清界限&rdquo;，牢牢树立敌情意识，树立民族主义、保家卫国的爱国情操。如果说在这方面和中国式的教育理念还有什么不同的话，可能&ldquo;吃相&rdquo;上的细微差别是其中最主要的差异。其他同样强调<span>reading</span>的<span>Latin primers </span>和<span>Wheelock </span>的主要差别就是：在他们的书里，<span>Latin Grammar </span>是为<span>Latin reading text </span>服务的，而且这些<span>reading text </span>多半是<span> CONNECTED PASSAGES, </span>有连贯性，而不是<span>Wheelock</span>里孤零零的<span>sentences. CONNECTED </span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt"><span style="font-size: 12pt; "><strong>PASSAGE </strong></span><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">是一个异常重要的<span>feature,<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span></span>以<span> CONNECTED PASSAGE<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span></span>为主和以<span>disconnected sentences </span>为主的<span>Latin reading </span>之间关乎<span>reading </span>本身地位的关键，这两种<span> approaches </span>存在不可调和的矛盾， 也是两者之间的根本分歧（分水岭）<span>, </span>而<span> Ripman </span>将<span> CONNECTED PASSAGE approach </span>推向了更高的新台阶：整部<span>RCL </span>正文部分仅有<span>18</span>课，确是前后连贯的一部中篇小说！或者说，<span>Walter Ripman </span>比较成功地借鉴了中篇小说这种文学形式创作了一部以少男少女为主的<span>&ldquo;</span>小说<span>&rdquo;</span>，有高低起伏，有人物对话，喜怒哀乐，想象基本合理，学习生活应有尽有，诗词歌赋无所不包， 把公元二世纪罗马生活的细节自然贯穿在所有情节之中，这在众多蒙学著作中可以说是绝无仅有的。最令人骇异的是，这<span>18</span>课，以词汇较为丰富简化仅用了<span>200</span>页左右的篇幅（<span>32</span>开的书，字体比较小）， 是<span>9</span>个月的教学量，就完成了一般<span>High School Latin </span>两年的内容<span>! </span>而使用<span>RCL</span>的成就感是使用其他<span>primers </span>望尘莫及的。或许，<span>RCL</span>的最主要贡献是：让读者切实感到<span> Latin is forever within one's reach. </span>这恰恰是绝大多数<span>Latin primers in English </span>的终极软肋。<span></span></span></p>

He was not given to amplification, nor to the use of superlatives. In fact, his style was free from all exuberance of expression. It was plain, but elegant, and the elegance was derived from long and close contact with that which was best in literature. He never reviewed a book without reading it. </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt"><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">Ladbroke Grove, London, the daughter of Walter Ripman (1869&ndash;1947), an inspector of schools and author of many school textbooks in French and German, and his wife, Constance Brockwill Grier. She was educated at Norland Place School and at St Paul's Girls' School. She studied for the theatre at the Central School of Speech Training and Dramatic Art in London, gaining the Central School and London University diplomas in dramatic art in 1935.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt"><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">Caryl Jenner, to use the name she adopted, began her professional career as an actress and assistant stage manager at the Gate Theatre, London. From 1936 to 1938 she worked as a stage manager for various companies in London and the provinces. In December 1938 she became director of the Amersham Repertory Company, where until its closure in March 1949 she worked with the actress Sally Latimer on over 200 productions. During this time she showed a particular gift for creating theatre for young people, in 1948 becoming co-director of the Amersham Playhouse Schools Mobile Unit.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt"><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">In November 1949 Caryl Jenner launched her first independent theatrical enterprise, Mobile Theatre Ltd, which was committed to bringing live performance to towns and villages otherwise denied the chance to see theatre. This proved so successful that by 1960 she was managing five touring companies, four of which, jointly named the English Theatre for Children, were exclusively devoted to children's theatre. She ran summer theatre seasons in Seaford, Southwold, Cornwall, and Ayr and toured tirelessly: she visited schools for over fifty education authorities in Britain, extending her tours to include Northern </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt"><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">Ireland (January 1960) and Malta (May 1960). She also directed children's plays at various major venues: Sam Wanamaker's New Shakespeare Theatre, Liverpool; the Lyric, Hammersmith; the Yvonne Arnaud, Guildford; the Coventry, Belgrade; and the Toynbee, Questors, and Garrick in London.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt"><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">Caryl Jenner's performances for children were distinguished by an appeal to the imagination (e.g. using a simple stepladder for a mountain). They did not involve any physical participation by the children nor post-show discussion, for she believed that this was the task of the teacher. She never avoided confronting difficult topics: one of her productions of this period, The Tingalary Bird by Mary Mellwood, was an absurdist piece, in which an old couple argue their lives away. Many adults thought it too advanced for a child audience, yet it was watched attentively by the children themselves.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt"><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">In October 1962 Caryl Jenner renamed her organization Caryl Jenner Productions Ltd, and launched the Unicorn Theatre Club for Young People. It is for her pioneering work with the Unicorn Theatre that she is now best remembered. In October 1964 the Unicorn became a permanent London company of some eight to ten actors, but it almost failed two years later when it ran into serious financial difficulties. It was saved by support from the Gulbenkian Foundation, the Leche Trust, and members of the Unicorn itself. Most importantly, it began to receive grants from the Arts Council, establishing for the first time the principle of subsidizing children's theatre in Britain. The improved financial situation allowed her in July 1967 to take a six-year lease on the Arts Theatre in London. She would present plays and run workshops for children during the day, and let out the theatre for adult performances in the evening. By now she had abandoned touring and could rely on audiences' coming to her: from 1970 to 1973 her audiences at the Arts Theatre averaged 93 per cent, coming from 100 of London's 114 postal districts and from 308 towns outside London. In 1973 the annual audience was over 56,000, with 14,000 children from the inner London education authority attending forty term-time performances a year. In addition to her own productions she invited into the theatre puppet shows, dance pieces, films, and chamber music concerts.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt"><span style="font-size: 12pt; ">From 1967 to 1969 Jenner served on the young people's theatre panel of the Arts Council, and in 1970 she became chairman of the young people's theatre executive of the Council of Repertory Theatres. She was also the British representative for the Association Internationale du Thé&acirc;tre pour l'Enfance et la Jeunesse, attending its five-week assembly in Canada and the United States shortly before her death. Gaunt and mannish in appearance, a chain-smoker and extremely active to the point of being domineering, she died, unmarried, of lung cancer at the Middlesex Hospital, London, on 29 January 1973.</span></p>

<p>一、将来时与未完成时</p>
<p>将来时表示未来将要发生的事情=英文将来时</p>
<p>未完成时表示在发生还没有结束，或者是强调动作在进行中的时态，一般表示was doing或kept doing,used to do,偶尔表示英文过去式</p>
<p>将来时一般的标志是-bi-，未完成时一般的标志是-ba-</p>
<p>以laudo为例</p>
<p>laudabo, laudabis, laudabit, laudabimus, laudabitis, laudabunt</p>
<p>laudabam, laudabas, laudabat, laudabamus, laudabatis, laudabant</p>
<p>基本上是动词词干+时态标志+人称词尾</p>
