The only good way is to keep paging through your data, and check every page for the value you are looking for.

To speed things up a little, build this capability into your paging system, so that when it is searching for a particular record, it doesnt pull back the entire field set, but only the fields you are searching on (e.g. the id field). Then once you have found which page the data is in, you can re-run the query to get the entire result set for that page.

Have this problem I have been working on for a while now and cant seem to find a solution. I am sure its easy to solve. I have a datagrid bound to a dataset bringing back a list of products in our database. The Datagrid has been setup with paging to display one product at a time on the page. Sometimes I may need to jump straight to another record in the datagrid (say Product 5 out of 100). I am passing the product code to the page which renders the datagrid. How can I take this product number and jump straight to that product in the datagrid
