Red Cliff, reportedly Asia's most expensive film ever, gained 27m yuan at the box office on its first-day release Thursday, setting the highest record among domestic-made movies. Recently, about 78% of rooms at 5-star hotels in Beijing have been booked, at an average rate of 3464 yuan per night, 3.6 times the rate a year earlier. To supplement Beijing's hotel resources, 598 home stay households were selected, offering 726 rooms for more than 1000 potential guests. 目前北京五星级宾馆78%的客房已被预定，平均每晚3464元，是去年同期价格的3.6倍。另外，为丰富住宿资源，北京还评选出598户奥运人家，可提供726间客房，一次接待1000多名中外游客。

The launch of Apple Inc.'s much-anticipated new iPhone turned into an information-technology meltdown Friday, as customers were unable to get their phones working. According to a latest survey on annual salaries of heads of different countries, Singapore PM Lee Hsien-Loong gets the highest pay with an annual salary of $2.05m, 4 times more than US President George W. Russia's Yelena Isinbayeva set a new women's pole vault world record of 5.03m at the Golden League meeting in Rome Saturday, which bettered her previous world mark set in Helsinki in August 2005. The Environmental Protection Agency revealed the result of the evaluation of American people's lives, which was traditionally used by government to do cost-benefit analysis when drawing up regulations. 'Toe the line' ---------- 踮着脚尖在一条线上走？别误会，它可不是走钢丝呦。它的意思是"听从命令、服从纪律、按惯例行事"。line有"起跑线"之意，运动员们用脚尖踮着起跑线，等待着发枪施令。line还指"在阅兵场上画的一条直线"，新兵集合的时候都必须在直线上列队。因此toe the line就有了"服从命令"的含义。 例句：
